Reconstruction and Expansion of Barjanska cesta

The Barjanska cesta reconstruction project covers approximately 2 km between the Ljubljana Center motorway junction and Ziherlova ulica. This is a comprehensive redesign of an important urban arterial road, aimed at increasing the corridor’s traffic capacity, improving conditions for public transit, and establishing higher-quality and safer facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

For the project, we prepared detailed design and construction documentation for the road layout, underground utility infrastructure, and landscape design.

The core element of the project is the expansion of Barjanska cesta into a four-lane thoroughfare. The new layout includes dedicated lanes for public transit and improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. The objective of the intervention is to improve traffic flow, ensure more efficient public transport operations, and create safer and higher-quality conditions for pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

As part of the project, the overpass above the motorway and the roundabout at the motorway junction were also designed. The road layout was coordinated with the underground utility infrastructure and landscape design, ensuring the traffic corridor was addressed comprehensively.
