Renovation of the children’s playground in Tivoli Park

The subject of the project is the city playground in Tivoli Park, in the western part of the park on the eastern edge of the Tivoli arc, where the pond and the plant nursery are also located. Since the last renovation in the 1990s, the playground had not undergone a thorough refurbishment; only worn-out play equipment or urban furniture was occasionally replaced.

A comprehensive renovation of the city playground was carried out, as it had not seen any major upgrades in the past thirty years. The design takes into account the programme and design concept from the 1990s, which was not fully implemented at the time, and upgrades and complements it by introducing several new high-quality play elements, water play areas, and improved vegetation.

The playground is designed with a high share of natural materials and, through the selection of equipment, is attractive to a wider range of users. The area along the chestnut avenue is intended for the youngest children, while the remaining areas are also arranged for older children who enjoy more physically demanding challenges. The design includes play options for children with disabilities; some play elements are fully suitable, while others are partially suitable or accessible.

The material palette of the playground is based on natural materials such as wood, sand surfaces, and a high share of vegetation. The arrangement preserves all existing trees, and new trees and a significant share of shrub vegetation have been added.
