Professional field trip to Vienna

On the last weekend of September, we visited Vienna and, during a three-day LUZ professional field trip, viewed current urban planning projects: Sonnwendviertel, Seestadt Aspern, and Nordbahnviertel.
We gained a closer insight into effective spatial planning of large urban neighborhoods and the public housing management system, as well as the well-functioning public transport system. In addition to Vienna being the city with the highest quality of life in the world for many years (Mercer), it also devotes significant attention to climate neutrality.

The city’s vision is clearly visible in both new constructions and the renovations of city districts, which are well-equipped for safe and comfortable living with social and utility infrastructure, efficient public transport, safe, comfortable, and green streets, as well as other systematic urban greening.
